Del Norte High’s volleyball team saw its season come to a bittersweet close on Wednesday, losing its opening round game in the North Coast Section Division 4 playoffs.

For the third time this season, the Warriors came oh-so-close to knocking off Big Five Conference champion Eureka. Del Norte fell in the fifth and final set, 16-14. The Loggers advanced to the second round of the playoffs

Saturday, while Del Norte finished its season with a 22-12 overall record. Del Norte won two of the first three sets but couldn’t find a way to finish Eureka. It was the same script as last week, when Eureka tipped the Warriors in five sets, denying Del Norte a share of the conference crown.

The Warriors will say goodbye to six seniors from the squad – Kansas Coulson, Deja Travis, Bliss Blackburn, Jeanna Erler, Melody Brennan, and Isbella Arriola.

The other Big Five Conference team to reach the Division 4 playoffs, Arcata, was eliminated Wednesday, losing in five sets to Pinole Valley High.
