Del Norte High was one of four league schools which earned praise for having no ejections during the winter sports season.

Joining the Warriors were Humboldt-Del Norte League teams Fortuna, Ferndale, and St. Bernard’s.

“All of their teams displayed positive/appropriate sportsmanship throughout the entire season,” league officials said.

Del Norte featured eight teams in the winter… freshman, junior varsity, and varsity boys and girls basketball, and boys and girls wrestling.

"This is a testament to our winter sports teams and the pride they are creating and continuing within their programs,” said Athletic Director Taylor Duncan. “This is who we are and who we will be as an education-based athletics program at Del Norte High School. Our student athletes and coaches exhibited respect and sportsmanship throughout the winter season and represented Del Norte High and our amazing community with pride. Thank you to the student athletes, coaches, and best fans in the Del Norte-Humboldt league for holding up to this standard."

Over the past few years, the HDN has supported the Student Athletic Advisory Council, which has made sportsmanship a priority.

“The HDNL appreciates each school’s Athletic Director, their coaches, players, and student representatives participating on the League’s Student Athletic Advisory Council for their efforts and focus on respectful interaction with both opponents and officials,” the league said in a press release.
