Del Norte High’s boys soccer team ran its unbeaten streak to 10 games Wednesday, closing out the regular season with a 7-0 victory at South Fork High in Miranda.

Giovanni Lopez-Minor smashed the school record for goals in a season, blasting four on Wednesday to give him 28 for the year, breaking the record set in 2024 by teammate Deken Hanks.

Giovanni Alvarado tallied against the Cubs, as did Adrian Garcia. A South Fork own goal rounded out the scoring.

Coach David Sanyaolu said the second half of the season has been

“delightful” as the team has perfected its progressive passing game,

crediting the hard work the players have put in during the streak.

The Warriors closed the season in third place in the Humboldt-Del Norte League standings in a tight battle between three squads. Arcata captured the title with a 9-0-3 record (21 points), with Fortuna second at 9-1-2 (20 points) and Del Norte at 8-1-3 (19 points).

The Warriors’ overall record stands at 19-3-3. Del Norte is currently sixth in the MaxPreps North Coast Section Division 1 rankings.

Now, the Warriors must wait until Sunday to see where they are seeded in the North Coast Section playoffs. Sanyaolu is hopeful Del Norte will be at home for a first-round game on Wednesday.
