Del Norte basketball is off to a strong start, with early wins for both teams as they head into tournament play—click for more!
It’s been a good beginning for the Del Norte High girls’ basketball team, which has started the new season with a pair of victories for first-year varsity coach Nick Perez.
The Warriors knocked off Hoopa Valley on Friday, 38-36, with senior Kansas Coulson hitting the game-winning shot. Del Norte followed that up Saturday with a home victory over an outmatched South Fork squad, 74-2.
The Del Norte boys’ team is now 1-1 this season. The Warriors lost at Hoopa Valley Friday 69-62, but came back Saturday and defeated South Fork 77-50.
Both Del Norte teams will head east Thursday for a three-day tournament in Yreka.
Neither Warrior squad will play at home again until the start of the Big Five Conference season early in January.
