Ten Del Norte High athletes earned White Star honors after being selected to the all-Big Five Conference/Humboldt-Del Norte League teams.
In track and field, three boys and three girls earned the honor by winning their events at the HDN championships. They were senior Melody Brennan (discus), senior Aurora Mitchell (shot put), senior Jeana Erler (pole vault), senior Jason Murphy (pole vault), junior Landon Balent (400 meters), and junior Michael Haapala (800 meters).
Balent set a new school record in the 400 meters, as did shot put specialist Sebastian Espinoza, who went on to finish second at the North Coast Section championship meet.
A pair of Warriors collected White Stars for their efforts on the baseball diamond. Coaches selected senior Ben Shrewsberry and junior Landon Williams for all-conference honors. Named to the honorable mention list were seniors Kanyon Starkey and Marco Gonzalez.
Del Norte’s softball team saw sophomore Addison Whitford and senior Isabella Arriola both named to the White Star list, while junior Gianna Antonetti, senior Deja Travis, and senior Bliss Blackburn were on the honorable mention list.
